Two weeks ago I sent a request to be withdrawn from IADT and my advisor told me it was all taken care of... Yeah, apparently not.

I received some mail last week that made me think I should double check to make sure I wasn't registered for the summer quarter... I was. Apparently there is a form I needed to go around and have signed by the different departments in order to withdraw. I found out this from my financial aid person when I called him to make sure no further disbursements of federal loans would be processed (my advisor on the other hand still kept insisting that everything had been taken care of).

So I had to leave work early today, to go downtown to run around getting a bunch of signatures, so I wouldn't be charged this quarter's tuition. The only good thing about it is that there was a mysterious credit of $250 to my student account, so I will be getting a check at the end of the week.

This just reinforces my decision to leave the school, because this is not the first time they don't seem to know what the hell they're doing. I just hope this is the end of it.

Wow. You know your department head doesn't like you, when she implements a policy change when you're on vacation and then tells your supervisor to write you up (while you're still on vacation) for not complying to the changes.

In light of this it's also probably not a good idea to ask to leave at 2pm instead of 3pm, so I can my tuition payment before class, and get my U-pass, and get my student id updated. Hopefully the train will be running on time, so I won't be that late for class.

Once again the grading system at my school confuses me.  I totally should have failed that Critical Thinking class this quarter, but somehow I got a B.  I mean of the three assignments we had I only did the final, and even then only two-thirds of it.  I was there for probably less than half of the classes, but I guess showing up on the last day counted for a lot.

Today was the first day of classes for me this quarter...  Typography should be okay; I had the teacher for another class last quarter and he was pretty easygoing about things.  Critical Thinking sort of scares me though, but not because of the teacher or the class material.  In fact we never even got to the point where we went over the syllabus.  No, the other students in the class frighten me.  No matter what subject we started on somehow one of them brought Paris Hilton up in the conversation.  Seriously, we spent probably almost half of class discussing her.  I mean WTF!  Who cares about Paris Hilton?!  I know I don't.  The really scary part is it looks like the project that will be worth 20% of our grade is going to be a group project.

I just have to hope that I don't get any of the students who kept bringing her up in my group...  Same thing with the students whose answer about their favorite book was "I don't read books,  I read Vogue."

How pathetic is it that you have doubts about the college you're attending because you've been graded too high.  My grade for my Economics class has been posted online and I was completely surprised.  There is no way I actually deserved an A for the class, at least according to the information that had been on the syllabus.  I mean I didn't even write the 3 page paper we were supposed to do, and that right there was supposedly 10% of our grade.  In addition I only did 2 out of nine homework assignments, missed one of the 3 quizzes and was only in class about 50% of the time.  With my grades on the tests and quizzes I knew I had least had an C, maybe a B if he was feeling generous, but an A?

It will be really sad if this is my highest grade for the quarter, since it was the class I probably should have gotten the worst grade in.

Yeah, you know how I had to make a tuition payment this week.

Blue line )

Good news though that the SA loan came through and I got the check today.

So they had me fill out an application for an alternative loan, in addition to the federal loans just in case I needed it.  I was left with the impression that before that loan would go through I had to do something to activate it or what not.  Apparently not.  It was all set to disperse the first payment on Tuesday.

Now I just have to hope that the SA loan will be approved.  I will probably be able to cover tuition without it, but it will be tight.

But, on a happy note... I leave for Vancouver on Tuesday! Yeah!!!! ^_^

This week has not been good so far.

Hopefully, the rest of the week will be better.  I am taking Friday as a vacation day off of work to go to registration/orientation for classes at the art school downtown.  I need to remember to take a camera so if I'm done early enough I can go take pictures of Millennium Park and the lakefront.
